*Gainesville Police recently opened investigations into two thefts with losses amounting to a combined $8,500. Lt. Kevin Holbrook says Big Creek Foods reported the loss of a welder, argon tank and electrical cords worth $4,550. The theft was reported Tuesday from the 2600 block of White Sulpher Road. In the other instance, Lt. Holbrook says miscellaneous items were taken from a rental home on Piedmont Road between Christmas Day and Wednesday. The complainant said they were worth $4,000.
*A 43-year-old man was being held on $7,800 bond Saturday morning following a domestic incident Friday which included more than just the usual charges in such cases. The Hall County Sheriff’s Office says the charges include false imprisonment, three counts of battery under the Family Violence Act, terroristic threats and acts, theft of a motor vehicle, and two counts of probation violation. Hall County Jail records show he was booked about 3:00 Friday morning.
*A Buford woman, Shanshan Zhang, 36, has been arrested on prostitution charges following a police raid on a recently opened foot spa in Warren, Ohio. According to the town’s newspaper, The Vindicator, Zhang is charged with promoting prostitution, possession of criminal tools and solicitation.
