Two Gville area schools on state’s latest list of schools needing more academic support

Georgia education officials have a new list of public schools in the state that need more academic support, and two Gainesville area schools are on it – Gainesville Exploration Academy and Winder Elementary School.

The state Department of Education (GDOE) says 74 schools are on the list and all need more classroom support for some students. Schools on the list have one or more student groups that under-perform consistently, GDOE says.

Under the federal Every Student Succeeds Act, states are required to identify schools in need of additional support.
