HCSO: Wreck leads to aggressive driving charge against Cleveland man

Hall County sheriff’s deputies arrested a Cleveland man for aggressive driving and other traffic offenses following a Monday night two-car crash near Clermont.

HALL CO. SHERIFF’S OFFICE (HCSO) NARRATIVE:

“At approximately 8:50 p.m. deputies responded to the wreck in the 6700 block of Holly Springs Road. Hall County Fire Rescue was transporting one of the drivers, Brett Odell Braswell, 46, of Cleveland, to Northeast Georgia Medical Center for a complaint of injuries. The other driver, Richard Wade Matherson, 36, of Hayesville, North Carolina, did not report any injuries. Neither driver had passengers.

According to the preliminary investigation, Braswell was driving erratically and slamming on his brakes. Matherson, who was behind Braswell, attempted to pass Braswell to avoid a collision. While Matherson was passing, Braswell turned to the left, colliding with Matherson’s car. A witness traveling behind the cars involved observed the wreck.

Deputies cited Braswell for aggressive driving, expired tag, no proof of minimum insurance and having the wrong revalidation decal on his tag. They arrested him early Tuesday morning, March 25, when he was released from the hospital.

Braswell posted $2,210 bond and was released from jail on Tuesday afternoon.”
