(EDITOR’S NOTE: With the fate of a proposed data center in South Hall still undecided and growing citizen concerns, this is the first of an occasional report on the status of data center proposals in other parts of the state.)
The Macon Telegraph reported Friday that an application to rezone nearly 300 acres of forest in Twiggs County for a data center was approved by the county commission Thursday night.
It will include up to nine buildings, three substations and two retention ponds, according to county documents.
Twiggs County, home to about 9,000 people, is located on I-16, about 30 miles from Macon.
Plans for the data center in Hall County are now scheduled for consideration by the county planning commission next month. Decision on S. Hall data center still up in the air
