Trump talks of sending troops to Atlanta

In a speech at the White House, President Trump Wednesday proposed sending National Guard troops to Atlanta.

ANF reports the proposal came after Trump touted the National Guard’s presence in cities like Washington, D.C., and Memphis.

“We could take care of Atlanta. I’ll tell you what, you oughta get them to call me. We could take care of Atlanta so fast,” Trump said.

He didn’t elaborate on why he thought troops were needed in Atlanta but in the past has suggested that crime is running rampant in the city as well as others mostly where Democrats are in the majority. But Atlanta’s mayor and police chief have produced statistics that show that violent crime there is down.

Atlanta and Fulton County as well as some state officials have been the object of Trump’s ire ever since he lost the 2020 presidential election.
