One day after 9th District U.S. Rep. Andrew Clyde’s plans to punish prosecutors investigating Donald Trump became known a state lawmaker from our area is joining the fray.
Sen. Steve Gooch (R-Lumpkin County) wants a “tainted” Fulton District Attorney Fani Willis to face legislative hearings on the way she handled the investigation, according to the AJC. Gooch, the Senate Majority Leader, like a lot of the former president’s supporters, alleges that Willis’ actions are political.
Clyde, a Republican from Jackson County, wants to eliminate federal grants to the offices of Willis, Manhattan D.A. Alvin Bragg, and special counsel Jack Smith.
Meantime, Gooch (pictured) is siding with senate colleagues Shelly Echols of Hall County and Bo Hatchett of Habersham County who recently sent a letter to Colton Moore, a Republican state Senator from northwest Georgia, blasting his call for a special legislative session to impeach Willis.
