Trump indictment: 3 from our area among GOP senators penning letter attacking Fulton DA

The letter is similar to one Sens. Shelly Echols (R-Hall County) and Bo Hatchett (R-Habersham County) sent last week to a fellow senator, Colton Moore, blasting him for urging a special legislative session to investigate Fani Wallis. Wallis’ investigation of former President Donald Trump’s attempts to have some state officials reject the outcome of the 2020 presidential election in Georgia resulted in the indictment of him and 18 others by a Fulton County Grand Jury.

This letter is signed by 25 of the 56 Republicans in the senate. And, while it mentions Moore’s actions, it focuses more on the tactics used by Wallis during her investigation and questions her motives in launching the probe, instead of laying out the reasons Moore’s idea of a special legislative is not feasible.

In addition to Echols (pictured) and Hatchett, another area lawmaker, Sen. Steve Gooch (R-Lumpkin County), the Senate Majority Leader, also signed the latest letter.
