Trump co-defendant with Gainesville ties turns self in

All of the 18 co-defendants of Donald Trump’s who were indicted in the Georgia elections case by an Atlanta grand jury have now turned themselves in, including one with Gainesville ties.

Lawyer Bob Cheeley of Alpharetta is charged with having presented video to legislators of election workers in Atlanta who were allegedly counting votes more than one time. Cheeley is also charged with trying to get state legislative leaders to call a special session of the legislature to certify a group of Trump-supporting alternate electors.  The plan was for that group to replace the slate of Democratic electors pledged to Joe Biden.

Cheeley is the owner of the Midland Social in Gainesville, a Gainesville Midland Railroad baggage car now serving as a restaurant.

He was freed on $50,000 bond.
