Trucker arrested in S. Hall held on several charges & for immigration authorities

A truck driver is being held in the Hall County Jail following his recent arrest by officers from the Georgia Department of Public Safety Commercial Vehicle Enforcement (CVE). The department released details of the Friday arrest on Monday.

GA. DEPT. OF PUBLIC SAFETY NARRATIVE:

“…a CVE officer was patrolling on Friendship Road when he observed a dump truck with tinted windows. He activated his emergency lights and sirens to conduct a traffic stop. The vehicle came to a complete stop on Hog Mountain Road behind a gas station parking lot.

While conducting the traffic stop, the driver, identified as Mr. Guillermo Enrique Umana Gomez, stated he did not possess a driver’s license and that the only identification he had was a passport and an ID from Honduras.

(As a result) Mr. Gomez was charged and arrested for the following:

  • Operating a CMV without a valid Commercial License (Class B)
  • No Georgia Intrastate Motor Carrier registration
  • No valid medical certificate

Mr. Gomez was transported to the Hall County Jail.  The vehicle was turned over to the owners…who arrived on scene shortly after the traffic stop.”
