GSP NARRATIVE:
“On Monday, August 7, 2023, at approximately 4:16 AM, Mr. Jacob K. Wilkerson (34, Buford) was driving a 2013 Nissan Altima and was actively fleeing and attempting to evade an Oakwood Police Department police officer on E.E. Butler Parkway. The OPD officer utilized a PIT maneuver, causing the Altima to travel off the roadway striking a power pole. Mr. Wilkerson was transported to NGMC-Gainesville with minor injuries. There were no injuries reported from the OPD officer.
Directly before this crash, a Hall County Sheriff’s Office patrol vehicle, and the same Oakwood Police Department patrol vehicle from above were involved in a crash. The OPD officer was pursuing the Altima on Main Street in Oakwood near McClure Drive when his vehicle was struck by a Hall County Sheriff’s Office patrol vehicle. The OPD officer continued pursuing the fleeing Altima. The HCSO deputy was uninjured.”
