A middle Georgia woman finds herself in the Hall County Jail after tossing a cigarette out her car’s window and being charged with littering. But that’s not why she was jailed.
It happened about 9:00 Thursday night near McEver Road and Dawsonville Highway.
“We issued the driver, Teri Lynn Gee, 39, of Forsyth, Ga., warning citations for failure to maintain lane and littering upon the highway,” Hall County sheriff’s spokesman Derreck Booth said. “She flicked a cigarette out of the window and started weaving in and out of traffic when she saw our deputy’s patrol car on the road. Our deputies stopped her.”
But Booth said the officers took her into custody for warrants she had out of Atlanta and Lumpkin County, not because of littering and failure to maintain lane.
It wasn’t immediately clear why Gee was wanted in Atlanta and Lumpkin County, but an Internet search did reveal that she was arrested in Lumpkin in 2021 on drug charges.
