Three young people, injured in wreck, facing underage drinking charges

Three young people are out of jail following a weekend accident in which all were injured and later jailed on underage drinking and other charges. The Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) released details of the accident and its aftermath Wednesday.

Deputies responded to the single-car accident on Thompson Bridge Road near Wahoo Drive at roughly 3:30 Saturday morning.

According to the preliminary investigation, the 18-year-old driver was headed north on Thompson Bridge Road when the car crossed over the right fog line in a curve and traveled into a ditch. It hit a utility box before continuing for several hundred feet and striking a culvert. The car went up the culvert and across Wahoo Drive before coming to rest.

The driver and her backseat passenger, also 18, suffered minor injuries. A front-seat passenger suffered what deputies classified as visible injuries. Hall County Fire Rescue transported him to the hospital for treatment.

Deputies arrested the driver and charged her with DUI, open container and consumption of alcohol by a minor. She is also charged with two counts of false identification documents for possession of two fake driver’s licenses.

They also arrested the 18-yer-old passenger for consumption of alcohol by a minor and two counts of false identification documents.

The young man was arrested upon his release from the hospital later Saturday morning and charged consumption of alcohol by a minor.

Each was released from jail either Saturday night or Sunday morning on bonds ranging from $650 to $4,680.
