Hall County sheriff investigators have charged three men in connection with the theft last year of thousands of dollars’ worth of wire from a business in south Hall County. The third suspect turned himself in Wednesday.
HALL COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE (HCSO) NARRATIVE:
“The investigation began Dec. 9, 2025, when deputies responded to a theft report at the business. They met with a representative of OmniCable on Maple Avenue regarding the theft of several large reels of scrap wire from the company’s warehouse.
According to initial details, the theft happened on at least four occasions beginning on Nov. 5, 2025.
Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Unit property crimes investigators began work on the case. According to the preliminary investigation, a former employee of the company, Yohanny Navarro, 41, of Loganville, pulled reels of scrap wire out of the company’s scrap area and marked them as though they were customer orders. Navarro, assisted by Jason Castro, 40, of Gainesville, another former employee, loaded the reels onto a rental truck. The rental truck driver, Antonio Diaz-Pinillo, 58, of Lawrenceville, would leave with the loads. The stolen wire was eventually sold as scrap.
Deputies obtained arrest warrants for the three suspects on Jan. 6, 2026.
Sheriff’s Office Warrant Service Unit deputies arrested Castro in the 4300 block of Highland Gate Parkway on the morning of Jan. 7. He posted $66,800 bond and was released from the Hall County Jail early the morning of Jan. 8. Castro is charged with four counts of party to a crime of felony theft by taking.
Diaz-Pinillo was extradited from Florida and booked into the Hall County jail on the evening of Feb. 13. Investigators charged him with four counts of felony theft by taking. Diaz-Pinillo was released from jail on the evening of Feb. 14 after posting $55,800 bond.
Navarro turned himself in at the jail Wednesday morning, March 11. He posted $17,600 bond the afternoon of March 11 and was released from jail. Navarro is charged with four counts of felony theft by taking.
The incidents happened last year on the mornings of Nov. 5, Nov. 12, Nov. 26 and Dec. 3. The copper and aluminum wire totaled approximately 45 reels, valued at an estimated $44,500.
The case remains under investigation.”
