The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) has broken up a heavy equipment theft ring with the arrest of a Conley, Georgia, man.
FCSO FACEBOOK POST (EDITED FOR CLARITY AND BREVITY):
“The state Department of Public Safety Commercial Vehicle Division (CVD) contacted FCSO about a theft ring that might be targeting a location in Forsyth County. It seemed the thief would contact a tow truck service and direct the driver to meet him at the target location, load the equipment and transport it to another location. The tow truck driver is unaware that the guy is stealing the equipment. On February 18th, the Georgia Department of Public Safety contacted our the sheriff’s office and said that the heist was going to occur.
The thief took a taxi from Atlanta to a site in Forsyth County where he loaded a skid-steer onto a tow truck and was attempting to depart with it when the sheriff’s investigators dropped the net on him. The taxi driver and the tow truck driver were cleared of any wrongdoing, but the thief could not provide a reasonable explanation for being in the area and why he had loaded the equipment. He was taken into custody.
21-year-old Antonio Dozier was charged with Felony Theft by Taking and Loitering and Prowling.”
