Suwanee man jailed following 127 mph chase on I-985

A Suwanee man is being held in the Hall County Jail on charges growing out of a high-speed chase on I-985 earlier this week and he’s also being held for immigration authorities.

GEORGIA STATE PATROL NARRATIVE:

“(On Monday) while on patrol, a (state trooper) observed a (car) traveling south on I-985 at Mile Marker 18 at a high rate of speed and checked it at 107 MPH in a 70 MPH zone. 

The Trooper activated his emergency lights and siren in an attempt to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle. The driver turned off the vehicle’s headlights and increased his speed to 127 mph, initiating a pursuit. The pursuit continued south on I-985 for approximately four miles.

The driver, Eliel Moises Gonzalez Reyes, age 31, of Suwanee, surrendered and eventually came to a stop on the right shoulder of I-985 at Mile Marker 14. The Trooper…took Mr. Gonzales Reyes into custody. 

Charges include Speeding, Reckless Driving, Fleeing and Attempting to Elude, Failure to Maintain Lane, Failure to Signal while Changing Lanes, and Headlight Requirements.”
