A Suwanee man was arrested minutes after he allegedly stole $5,000 involving the private sale of a vehicle.
GWINNETT POLICE NEWS RELEASE:
“…officers assigned to our Central precinct responded to a theft report at 1625 Pleasant Hill Road in unincorporated Duluth. The victim informed police that he was attempting to purchase a white Dodge Charger from a male suspect he met on Facebook Marketplace. The suspect took $5,000 from the victim during the transaction and fled in the vehicle.
Leveraging technology, analysts from our Real-Time Crime Center used DOT and FLOCK cameras to track the suspect’s vehicle. A K9 Officer spotted the suspect vehicle approximately 30 minutes later in the area of Old Norcross Road and Herrington Road and conducted a traffic stop.
The suspect, identified as Kobe Isaih Romain-Grant (age 23, Suwanee) was apprehended without incident. Officers recovered the stolen $5,000. Romain-Grant was transported to the Gwinnett County Jail and is charged with felony theft by taking.
The Gwinnett County Police Department wants to remind the public that we have designated e-commerce spaces available at our police headquarters and our six police precincts around the county. The parking spots are marked with a sign and monitored with video surveillance 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.”
