Suspected dognapper arrested

A Gainesville woman has been arrested on theft charges related to the theft of a pit bull, valued at more than $1,500, reported stolen earlier this month from a residence on Blackjack Road.

HCSO NARRATIVE :

The theft was reported to a Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) deputy on July 14 by two occupants of the home, one of them the owner of the dog.

The preliminary investigation determined the suspect in the theft, Robin Pierce South, 61, was a former resident of the home on Blackjack Road. She had returned to the residence to retrieve a cat she had left behind. After South left the property with her cat, the other occupants of the home could not locate the dog.

The deputy obtained an arrest warrant for felony theft by taking.

South was arrested Monday night, July 22, when a deputy spotted her at a fast food restaurant on Spout Springs Road. She is in custody at the Hall County Jail with a bond of $1,300.”
