Sunday morning, middle of the road fight leads to 14 charges

A group of men authorities say got into a fight in the middle of a Hall County road just after daybreak Sunday ended up in jail facing 14 charges after their alcohol-laced affray.

HCSO NARRATIVE:

“At approximately 7:40…Hall County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the report of a fight (involving) four men in the roadway in the 3200 block of Barrett Road. Before deputies’ arrival, the men got into a car and left.

Responding deputies spotted the car from the scene of the fight, a silver Toyota Corolla, driving on Burton Mill Road. Deputies stopped the car for failure to maintain its lane at a store in the 3700 block of Harmony Church Road. The four men in the car all had blood and scratches on their faces.

Following the initial investigation, deputies arrested all four men in connection with the fight.

Seluil Almendarez, 24, of Gainesville – driver

  • Failure to maintain lane
  • Driving while unlicensed
  • No proof of insurance
  • Open container
  • DUI alcohol

Jose M. Mejia, 58, of Gainesville – front seat passenger

  • Affray (misdemeanor)
  • Public drunkenness (misdemeanor)
  • Cited for:
  • Permitting an unlicensed person to drive (his car)

Gledys Maximino Almendarez-Turcios, 24, of Gainesville – rear seat passenger

  • Affray (misdemeanor)
  • Public drunkenness (misdemeanor)

Eduar Gilberto Almendarez, 32, of Hempstead, NY – rear seat passenger

  • Affray (misdemeanor)
  • Public drunkenness (misdemeanor)

All four men were booked into the Hall County Jail. Their bond and release information is below:

Eduar Almendarez – Released early Monday morning, Aug. 18, on $780 bond

Seluil Almendarez – Released early Monday morning, Aug. 18, on $7,520 bond

Mejia – Released this afternoon on $1,430 bond

Almendarez-Turcios – Released early Monday morning, Aug. 18, on $780 bond”
