Sugar Hill man free on bond following weekend disturbance on Gville southside

A Sugar Hill man was released from the Hall County Jail Tuesday morning after being locked up over the weekend following a disturbance at a house on Cooley Drive.

HCSO NARRATIVE:

According to the initial investigation, Yo Han Choi, 36, yelled and banged on the front door of the victims’ home several times with the buttstock of a rifle and then left in his car. The incident happened in the 1000 block of Cooley Drive between 2 and 3 a.m. on Sunday… The victims knew Choi prior to the incident. Choi caused less than $500 damage to the door.

Deputies responded to the home and spoke with the occupants, two women, 37 and 23, and a man, 52, and issued a law enforcement BOLO (be on the lookout) for Choi and his car. Flowery Branch Police Officers located Choi traveling south on Interstate 985. They stopped his vehicle near Exit 8 (GA 347/Lanier Islands Parkway).

HCSO deputies arrived and arrested Choi at roughly 3:45 a.m. They confiscated the rifle and a handgun from Choi. They obtained warrants charging him with the following:

  • Criminal attempt to commit aggravated assault under the Family Violence Act (felony)
  • Criminal attempt to commit aggravated assault (felony) – two counts
  • Possession of a firearm during commission of a crime (felony)
  • Criminal trespass (misdemeanor)

Deputies transported Choi to the Hall County Jail. He posted $10,900 bond and was released from jail on Tuesday morning…”
