Student debt; Milk recall

*A new report from Experian on student loan debt in Georgia reveals that the average student loan balance in the state increased by over $19-hundred dollars from the end of 2023, reaching more than $43-thousand dollars in the first half of 2024. With schools pushing college over trade school and some industries only accepting those with degrees, borrowers continue to face financial challenges. Across the U.S., most generations carry student loan balances exceeding $40-thousand dollars, with Generation X, or those between 44 and 59 years old, owing the most. Interest rates for federal student loans have increased, impacting future repayment costs.

*Some Lactaid milk is being recalled in over two dozen states including Georgia. The FDA reports the products may contain trace amounts of almonds that are not listed on ingredient labels. The recall applies to 96-ounce containers of Lactaid’s whole, two-percent, one-percent, and fat free milk with various “best by” dates between November 22nd and December 5th. Those who have a severe allergy to almonds should not use the products.
