Stake-out leads to drug arrest

A Gainesville man has been arrested on drug charges at a location in the 1700 block of Browns Bridge Road by Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) investigators who had been watching for him.

HSO NARRATIVE:

“On Friday…just after 2:30 p.m., the Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) Special Investigations Unit (SIU) and Warrant Service Unit were conducting surveillance for Juan Jose Padilla, 27, who had an active probation warrant. Warrant Service Unit deputies observed Padilla exiting a vehicle outside a business and moved in to arrest him. Padilla attempted to run from the deputies. As he ran, Padilla tossed two bags, which were recovered by deputies. The bags contained a quantity of methamphetamine. Deputies also discovered a quantity of marijuana and drug paraphernalia in Padilla’s possession when they took him into custody.

Padilla has been charged with the following offenses:

·         Trafficking methamphetamine (58 grams with an estimated street value of $4,350)

·         Possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute

·         Possession of marijuana with intent to distribute (26 grams with an estimated street value of $520)

·         Probation violation

He remains in the Hall County Jail with no bond.”
