Special Report: Earthquakes in Georgia

Those two earthquakes that struck Hall and Gwinnett counties overnight Thursday bring to 15 the number recorded in Georgia this year, according to one source.

Since January 1, at least nine have occurred in Georgia – in Milledgeville, Augusta, Dalton (4 so far), Resaca, and the two Thursday night. In addition, others have been reported in towns and counties bordering Georgia which may have been felt in Georgia but were centered elsewhere – such as Chattanooga, Tennessee, and Aiken County, South Carolina. And, by the way, nationwide, in the past 24 hours, there have been198 quakes of magnitudes up to 4.4, most of them in Alaska and California, with Alaska leading the way.
