It was not until 6:15 this morning that traffic began flowing smoothly in south Gainesville after a traffic accident that interrupted power in the area.
That’s when the Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) announced that Candler Highway at I-985 southbound had reopened and was almost 12 hours after the first traffic alert was sounded.
At 11:30 Friday night, the sheriff’s office advised that though the road had been reopened motorists should use caution in the area and that Geogia DOT had crews on the scene assisting with traffic control until power could be restored to the intersection.
The first alert had warned that Candler Highway at 985 southbound on ramp was closed because of a single-vehicle accident.
This story will be updated. Details about the accident were not available as of early Saturday.
