Soggy week begins, Flood Watch continues

Rain began moving into North Georgia overnight, the start of what the National Weather Service (NWS) said Mondy will be a soggy week for us. And the Flood Watch which was posted late Monday remains in effect for this afternoon into Thursday with the heaviest of the rain and the most potential for flooding occurring overnight tomorrow.

“The threat of flooding in the region (along and north of I-20) should peak between Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning,” forecasters said this morning. They added that the threat of rainfall totals between 3-5 inches continues with isolated chances of up to seven inches in north Georgia.

Rain is expected to continue through Sunday with clearing and freezing temperatures returning Sunday night. Here’s the latest seven-day forecast for Gainesville:
