A Gainesville man may not walk again after losing part of his leg in a motorcycle crash on Mountain View Road this past week.
The Gainesville Times reports that on Wednesday, June 18th, 20-year-old Aiden Tomberlin was riding his Honda motorcycle around to test out the new exhaust that had been put on it.
Around 11:30 a.m., Tomberlin decided to return home due to an impending storm. HCSO reported that 25-year-old Carlos Podesta De la Fuente was stopped at the intersection of Buice Circle and Mountain View Road and was attempting to turn left. He pulled into the path of the motorcycle, causing Tomberlin to be ejected.
The 20-year-old “lost his left leg above the knee . . . his right femur and [has] dislocated and bruised vertebrae” as a result of the accident.
Aiden Tomberlin’s brother Alex commented on his brother’s injuries by stating, “There’s like a slim chance to none he’s going to be able to walk again.” The Shepherds Center in Atlanta, which is currently treating Tomberlin, did say that there is a possibility that he may be able to walk again due to the fact that he is young.
A GoFundMe has been set up to aid with Tomberlin’s recovery.
