The second of two planned hearings on safety improvement plans for Spring and Skelton roads and how they will affect property owners’ pocketbooks will be held Thursday night. It will be conducted by the Hall County Board of Commissioners at 6:00 at the county government center.

Hall County officials have begun sending out letters to property owners detailing planned “safety and security” improvements along Spring and Skelton Roads “for pedestrians and automobile traffic” by adding those areas to the county’s Special Tax District.
That would mean a $10-a-month fee would be assessed each property owner to help maintain 30 new streetlights on Skelton and 20 on Spring. There would be no initial charge for the streetlights or installation, according to the letters, dated Feb 21, a copy of which was obtained by GLORY 97.5 Tuesday. Approximately 333 parcels would be affected.
County officials say the $120-a-year assessment plus a $12-a-year “administrative fee” would be included in each property owner’s annual tax bill.
The county commission plans two public hearings on the proposal – on March 14 and March 28. Each is planned for 6:00 in the commission meeting room at the county government center on Browns Bridge Road.
