Shop with a Cop, Shop with a Sheriff

In between putting the bad guys and gals in jail, local law enforcement agencies have been busy the past few days helping some of the less fortunate families in the area provide “Christmas” to their youngsters.

Shop With a Cop outings were common throughout Hall County as sheriff’s deputies and police officers met up at various locations with some of those in need. And the sheriff’s office posted this after some of its offices took part:

“Our deputies and jailers answered the call to do some early Christmas shopping with families selected by United Way of Hall County.

“Thanks to generous donations from the public, the kids, accompanied by parents and grandparents, were able to peruse the aisles at Walmart Oakwood and select gifts. They chose everything from socks and shoes to books and toys.

“After they went through check out, each child was able to select an extra toy donated through toy collections at HomeRun Nutrition and the Martin Elementary School PTO.”

Gainesville Police, meanwhile, say they were able to shop with 31 children at this year’s event, adding, “this wouldn’t have been possible without our local Walmart, Pilgrims Pride of Gainesville, the Gainesville Fire Department , and several silent partners.

Flowery Branch Police report that their Shop with a Cop aided 23 youngsters thanks to sponsors Wal-Mart, Fishtales, Chic-fil-A, and Home Depot.

Oakwood Police’s event this year was held a few days ago but not information as to the number of children served or sponsors were included in the Facebook post about it.
