Several thousand people were without power in north Georgia at daybreak Wednesday morning following those overnight storms – none though in the area served by Jackson EMC and just a few Georgia Power customers in the same area. Those were in Habersham and Banks counties.
Habersham EMC, meanwhile, had a few outages in White County and Rabun County. Amicalola EMC was the hardest hit provider in the area with a few outages around Dawsonville but hundreds out to the north and northwest of there.
Overall, most of the outages in north Georgia were confined to metro Atlanta and north central, northwest and west Georgia where the storms struck first when they moved into the state late Tuesday night and early Wednesday.
The Gainesville airport recorded a top wind gust overnight of 31 mph which was about midnight. Rainfall amounted to about half-an-inch.
