Several Gville area schools benefitted from 1st round of Promise Scholarships

Several Gainesville area private schools got part of the $7.1 million in school vouchers distributed by the state recently in the first round of allocations under the program which was approved by the state legislature earlier this year.

The Georgia Education Savings Authority’s website shows that the voucher program, known as Promise Scholarships, allocated money to almost 300 schools, including Lakeview Academy, Lanier Christian School, Genisis Academy, and Chattahoochee Christian School in Hall County. Schools in Habersham, Dawson and Forsyth counties are also included.

Money also went to more than 150 companies that sell school supplies.
