‘Serious injury accident’ in East Hall

Hall County authorities investigated what sheriff’s deputies described as a “serious injury” accident late Wednesday night on Old Cornelia Highway in the Shady Valley Road area. As of 11:00, the highway was closed, according to a sheriff’s office Traffic Alert. Two vehicles were involved.

It was the second incident of the evening that prompted a traffic alert.

Just a few hours earlier, Candler Road was closed because a tractor-trailer was stuck on the railroad tracks that run parallel to the highway. Cook Drive was also affected. Once the 18-wheeler was removed and the road reopened sheriff’s deputies cautioned motorists to watch out for railroad officials who were still on the scene assessing damage to the tracks.

It was the second time that a tractor-trailer caused traffic problems in Hall County Wednesday. About 2:00 a.m., the northbound exit ramp on I-985 at Exit 17 (Atlanta Highway) was closed because one was on fire.

No other details on any of these incidents were immediately available.
