Separate wrecks claim life of Dawsonville woman, leave Gville man with serious injuries

A Dawson County woman was killed in a Sunday night wreck in Forsyth County and a crash on I-985 earlier in the weekend resulted in “suspected” serious injuries to a motorcyclist from Gainesville.

FORSYTH COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE NEWS RELEASE:

“(Sunday) at approximately 9:30 p.m., Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office and Fire Department were dispatched to a two-vehicle crash in the intersection of GA400 and Jot ‘Em Down Road.

The initial investigation determined that a blue 2014 Toyota Rav4 operated by 72-year-old Julie Waters Lamb of Dawsonville, was crossing GA400 when she was struck by a black 2019 Ford F-150 operated by 30-year-old Logan Moye of Dahlonega.

Mr. Moye was traveling North on GA400 when the signal for northbound traffic turned red.  Ms. Lamb obyed the traffic control device and began to cross GA400 to continue west on Jot ‘Em Down Road. Mr. Moye was traveling at a speed that made it impossible for him to stop for the red traffic signal.

Ms. Lamb was pronounced deceased at the scene.”

Meanwhile, the Georgia State Patrol reports that a 55-year-old motorcyclist from Gainesville received “suspected” serious injuries in an accident on I-985 in Hall County. It happened Saturday afternoon near Exit 8.

Lamar Cantrell was able to tell troopers that his bike crashed into the rear of an SUV in front of him after he was struck in the face by a water bottle thrown from a third vehicle which he described only as “a white van.”
