The eastbound lanes along a section of Lanier Islands Parkway were closed for several hours Saturday afternoon for “emergency road repairs,” according to the Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO).
The affected stretch of road was between Atlanta Highway and McEver Road.
The sheriff’s office issued a traffic alert early in the afternoon saying the two eastbound lanes were closed and that motorists should use alternate routes.
By 2:30, deputies reported that one lane was open, but that the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) was still on the scene and at 4:00 they reported that both lanes were open.
The exact nature of the emergency repairs was not immediately known.
