Scrutinizing voter registrations; Carter’s campaign coffer; State’s budget surplus

(GA. NEWS NETWORK)

*The state is starting to crack down on more voter registration inaccuracies. The Secretary of State recently announced they’ll be looking into people who are registered at P.O. Boxes, UPS stores or business addresses. Voters will be allowed to update their registrations with a residential address. An audit will be conducted over the next few months.

*Republican Buddy Carter reported this week that he’s raised over one-million-dollars in the last few weeks for his race against Senator Jon Ossoff. The AJC reports he’s added in two-million-dollars of his own money as well. Republican Insurance Commissioner John King is also running.

*Georgia’s budget surplus keeps growing. Preliminary numbers released by the state yesterday show that Georgia will once again be more than one-billion-dollars in the black. It marks five-years in a row that there’s been funds left over in the state budget. On the other end, a senior fiscal analyst told the AJC it won’t be enough to cover money pulled from reserves to pay for various projects and tax rebates.
