Cumming-based Sawnee EMC recently installed its 200,000th meter.
To celebrate the milestone, the electric co-op plans to enter all active residential members into a drawing for an energy credit. One hundred Sawnee members will be drawn at random and will receive a $25 energy credit on their next electric bill.
“We were founded to serve our communities and things have certainly changed since 1938,” President and CEO, Michael Goodroe said. “We are very proud of our history, but we are focused on what is ahead, and we are committed to meeting the needs of our members throughout our seven-county service area.”
Sawnee EMC says it is adding more than 3,500 meters per year and by the end of 2024 anticipates providing service to approximately 200,800 active meters.
