Safe Driving Summit this week at local high school

The Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) and the Lutzie 43 Foundation Who We Are – Lutzie 43 Foundation will host the first Safe Driving Summit of the 2023-24 academic year at Cherokee Bluff High School in a continuation of an initiative to educate young drivers about the dangers of distracted, impaired and unsafe driving behaviors.

An all-school assembly will kick off the event to be held Wednesday at Cherokee Bluff High School, 8:00-1:30, with a keynote presentation from representatives from Georgia DOT and the Lutzie 43 Foundation.

Students will hear from industry experts about how they can protect themselves and others on the road by practicing safe behaviors while traveling in a vehicle as a driver or passenger. In addition, students will hear from people who have real life stories of “heartache and determination” and then the students will rotate through the breakout sessions led by safe driving experts.
