A state lawmaker from South Hall is one of five people, three of them state legislators, chosen as an interim governing body for the City of Mulberry, the north Gwinnett town approved for incorporation in a recent referendum.
Derrick McCollum (R-Chestnut Moutain) (pictured) along with legislators Clint Dixon and Chuck Efstration, Lawrenceville City Manager Chuck Warbington and Mulberry’s board of directors’ chairman Jerry Haynes were tapped for the job in an Executive Order issued by Gov. Brian Kemp.
State law provides for the appointment of “such interim representatives” until a municipal government is in place.
Mulberry will be near the Hall-Gwinnett County line.
