A Flowery Branch man has been charged with several counts of transaction card fraud in connection with an entering auto case reported earlier this month and, in a separate case, he’s also facing shoplifting charges.
HCSO NARRATIVE:
“On Sept. 6…deputies with the Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) responded to a residence on Patterson Drive in Gainesville to investigate a theft report. Two complainants indicated someone had stolen financial transaction cards from an unlocked vehicle parked at the residence and had used the cards without authorization.
The case was turned over to an HCSO property crimes investigator, who was able to determine a transaction card belonging to one of the victims was used to make unauthorized purchases at various convenience stores between Sept. 4 and Sept. 6. The total theft amount was less than $500. By reviewing surveillance footage from the stores, the investigator was able to identify the suspect as Xavier Demetrius Maycox, 42.
Mr. Maycox was charged with five counts of transaction card fraud and one count of transaction card theft on Sept. 18 at the Hall County Jail. At the time, the suspect was in jail in connection to a case brought by the Gainesville Police Department.
The investigation into the entering auto case is ongoing and other charges are expected.”
Maycox was originally jailed on Sept. 8 on four shoplifting charges, as well as probation violation and obstruction of an officer charges.
