The incident reportedly followed the use of a racial slur by the customer.
FLOWERY BRANCH POLICE DEPT. NEWS RELEASE:
“Flowery Branch Police Officers were made aware of a physical altercation that occurred the previous evening at Branch House Tavern, 5466 McEver Road. After the initial reporting, the incident was forwarded to the Flowery Branch Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division for further investigation.
The criminal investigation revealed on 09/24/2023, the business of Branch House Tavern hosted a micro wrestling event that was open to the public. During the event, one of the customers was alleged to have directed a racial slur at one of the micro wrestling event participants. He was confronted by staff and a second male attempted to intervene. The two subjects were asked to leave and escorted out of the business by management. While the two subjects were outside of the business, another customer confronted them.
At that time, the business owner Majed Mohammad Alboumeh, one of his employees, Berhanemeskel Sium, and several other employees exited the business and separated the subjects. During the separation the intoxicated party, who had been asked to leave, began verbally insulting the owner. Majed Mohammad Alboumeh was observed on video fighting his way past several employees who tried to restrain him before he punched one of the involved males and kicked the other. Majed Mohammad Alboumeh then took hold of a patio table umbrella and used it to again strike one of the males. During the altercation, staff member Berhanemeskel Sium was observed on video striking one of the males in the head. The strike by Sium resulted in a visible injury while the strikes from Alboumeh did not result in visible injury. The parties were then separated and departed without calling the authorities to the scene.
After a thorough investigation, arrest warrants were issued on 10/11/2023 against Majed Mohammad Alboumeh for Simple Battery and Berhanemeskel Sium for Battery.”
