*A retired veteran of the Hall County Sheriff’s Office who most recently served as Director of Security at Gainesville’s Riverside Prep has been named interim chief of the embattled Demorest Police Department. Brad Rounds’ appointment is effective today. Rounds temporarily takes over a police force that has seen numerous resignations, including those of the former chief and assistant chief, in recent days. *Details remain sketchy this morning on two “serious injury” accidents in Hall County. The sheriff’s office is investigating the crashes which occurred just hours apart Tuesday at Mountain View Road and Old Flowery Branch Road and on Old Cornelia Highway near Brookton-Lula Road. At least one of them reportedly involved a fatality.
