(SRN NEWS) – The games Wednesday and Thursday between the host Atlanta Braves and New York Mets were postponed by MLB due to Hurricane Helene approaching the southeastern United States, meaning the newly scheduled Monday doubleheader in Atlanta may determine all three National League wild-card spots.
The Mets (87-70) and the Diamondbacks (88-71) are in a virtual tie for the second and third NL wild cards after Arizona beat the San Francisco Giants 8-2 on Wednesday. The Braves (86-71) are one game behind both New York and Arizona.
Atlanta holds a 6-5 edge in the season series against New York, so a potential tiebreaker could be in play on Monday, too. Both the Braves and the Mets would have the tiebreaker edge against the Diamondbacks.
