- 2024 Snapshot: Last year, the Gainesville metro area authorized 27.7 new units per 1,000 existing homes, the 7th most of any small U.S. metro. For context, there were 10.1 authorizations per 1,000 existing homes across the U.S.
- Then vs. Now: A total of 2,067 units were authorized in the Gainesville metro in 2022, compared to 2,339 new homes in 2024—an increase of 13.2% in two years. Meanwhile, the nation as a whole saw a decrease of 12.0% during that span.
