Report: Ga. is 2nd best state for immigrants

With over 53 million immigrants living in the U.S., the non-profit organization SmileHub has released a new report on the Best States for Immigrants in 2026 and Georgia ranks 2nd just behind Virginia. At the bottom: Alaska. Also released: a report on the Best Charities for Community Support to help out immigrants and populations in need around the world.

“To highlight the best states for immigrants and the ones that have the most room to improve, SmileHub compared each of the 50 states based on 16 key metrics. The data set ranges from the size of the immigrant population to the share of foreign-born entrepreneurs to the number of hate crime incidents per capita.

Immigrants in Georgia (1=Best, 25=Avg.):

  • Overall Rank: 2nd
  • 20th –Community Support Charities per Capita
  • 16th – Share of Immigrants
  • 9th – Share of Employed Foreign-Born Residents
  • 4th – Income Gap Between Immigrants & Non-Immigrants
  • 10th – Cost of Living
  • 3rd – Hate Crime Incidents per Capita
