There are eleven of them in Hall County, according to an Internet search, but they are going the way of the dinosaurs – soon be extinct.
Chicken Soup for the Soul Entertainment, as part of a revised bankruptcy filing, is pulling the plug on those familiar Redbox DVD rental kiosks which sit at stores and shopping centers across the country – more than 24,000 of them.
The Wall Street Journal reports the company has changed its original Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing to a Chapter 7 liquidation after lenders refused to put any more money into the business, which is almost one billion dollars in debt.
Shutting the kiosks down means about 1,000 workers will lose their jobs, according to the report.
The judge in the case has agreed to the revised filing.
