Received your check yet? EBT phone system out. Again

(GA. NEWS NETWORK)

*Georgia taxpayers have received more than one-billion-dollars in refunds so far. The Department of Revenue reported this week that roughly 90 percent of the refunds have gone out so far, with the remaining set to go out this fall. Individuals who have filed their 2023 and 2024 tax returns and don’t owe the state are eligible to receive up to $500.

*Georgia EBT cardholders are facing frustration as the state’s interactive phone system went offline again, just one day after being restored. Officials with the Georgia Department of Human Services have not yet explained the latest outage, which follows a cyberattack that occurred on July 28. Fox5 Atlanta says state officials attribute the disruptions to an unusual spike in call volume, prompting them to shut down and reboot the system. EBT cardholders are advised to download the “Connect EBT” app for added security and to lock their cards between purchases.
