Reaction to SCOTUS ruling on Trump tariffs

9th District Cong. Andrew Clyde (R-Jackson County) says the U.S. Supreme Court (SCOTUS0 ruling Friday declaring President Trump’s far-reaching tariffs unconstitutional, “unjustly hamstrings: the president.

Clyde, one of two congressmen who represent Hall County, said the opinion stymies the president’s ability “to quickly act to safeguard both our economic and national security.

“The President’s bold tariffs have generated hundreds of billions of dollars in revenue, leveled the playing field across the world, and provided tremendous leverage to secure strong, historic trade agreements,” Clyde added.

But Sen. Raphael Warnock (D-Georgia) said ““This ruling is welcome relief for families who are struggling with higher prices as a direct result of this President’s policies. I hope that instead of pursuing other avenues to impose these expensive taxes on Americans, the President centers the people and works to make life more affordable.”
