Re-construction of deadly Ga. 365 intersection begins next month

Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) and contractor Vertical Earth LLC will begin putting up signage for the Georgia 365/Mt. Zion Road project starting next Wednesday.

The intersection is the one where a Hall County sheriff’s deputy’s family – his wife and two young children – and two other people were killed this summer.

The entrance and exit at Mount Zion Road will become right in and right out.

Left turns from Mount Zion Road onto 365 will be restricted and a new traffic pattern will direct all vehicles to make right turn onto 365. Those wanting to make a left will travel to a left turn lane to a make U-turn and continue in the opposite direction.

Motorists traveling on 365 will continue to be able to make a left onto Mt. Zion Road both northbound and southbound.

The work, which Georgia DOT fast-tracked just weeks after the five-fatality wreck, will close the intersection to cross traffic from Mount Zion Road.
