*A 78-year-old man was booked into the Hall County Jail Friday night on charges of 2nd degree homicide by vehicle and failure to obey a traffic control device.
*The Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) opened Friday opened an investigation into a reported rape said to have occurred Nov. 15 between 7:00 and 9:00 p.m. in the Flowery Branch area. In addition, a report was filed with the department detailing an incident of sexual battery involving a victim older than 16 which is said to have occurred in the Oakwood area Thursday around 6:00 p.m.
*A 44-year-old West Hall man is being held without bond in the county jail following his arrest Friday on drug trafficking charges. He’s also being held for immigration authorities. In addition, a 48-year-old man is being held without bond after being arrested Friday on drug trafficking and distribution charges.
*Gainesville Police, meanwhile, have opened an investigation into seven cases of shoplifting at Lowe’s on Shallowford Road in which the losses amounted to about $650 and are reported to be the work of one person. And a 32-year-old woman has been charged by city police with shoplifting $1,800 in merchandise from Academy Sports on Dawsonville Highway. She’s also wanted on theft charges in Stephens County. She remained in the Hall County Jail as late as mid-morning, eight days after her arrest.
Additional information on each of these is not expected to be available until Monday after local law enforcement offices reopen following the weekend.
