Public works departments and power companies across northeast Georgia were dealing with strong winds, including some gusts as high as 50 mph, Monday afternoon.
Jackson, Habersham, Sawnee, Blue Ridge, and Amicalola EMCs, and Georgia Power were all reporting outages as of mid-afternoon. (See links to outage maps below.)
“We have had several trees down, some power lines down, and transformer fires,” Hall County Emergency Management and Homeland Security Director Zach Brackett wrote in an email. “We (are) anticipating continued impacts as the weather service has advised to expect occasional 35-45 mph gusts through the afternoon.”
