Primary care doctor returns home to NGHS’s medical plaza in Buford

After moving from South Korea to Gwinnett County as a teenager, James Hong, DO, fell in love with the local community quickly and began connecting with everyone around him. That’s what led him back home to join the Northeast Georgia Physicians Group (NGPG) Buford practice inside Northeast Georgia Health System’s (NGHS) Medical Plaza off Buford Highway.

“I love Georgia and was blessed to complete all of my education and training in the state, and now I’m thrilled to be back home,” Dr. Hong said. “I know there are plenty of people in Gwinnett County and the surrounding area looking for a new family medicine doctor, and I hope I can be that trusted person for them.”

Dr. Hong attended Emory University and went on to earn his medical degree from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Suwanee, Georgia. He was then matched with Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville for his family medicine residency training. Since residency, he’s joined the Army Reserve and is looking forward to serving as a physician in the U.S. Army – when he’s not seeing patients in Buford.
