FORSYTH CO. SHERIFF’S OFFICE (FCSO) FACEBOOK POST:
“On April 4th around 1:10am, deputies were dispatched to the Wal-Mart on Atlanta Highway in response to a burglary. It was reported that a man, later identified as 33 year old Devon Evans, had broken into the Wal-Mart by breaking the front door. Once inside, he smashed a glass case and took a X-Box. He was armed with a machete and a hammer.
(Deputy) Loucks was patrolling the area when he noticed a big guy walking along Atlanta Highway carrying an X-box, a machete, and a hammer.
…Loucks engaged in conversation with the man, keeping a calm voice. At one point Evans told (the deputy) that he was going to have to kill him tonight. (Deputy) Loucks maintained his calm and indirect tone with Evans as to make him feel at ease.
After backup arrived, and a brief tussle, Evans was taken into custody. DFC Loucks spoke to Evans prior to him being transported to the jail. He told Evans that he was glad he didn’t have to shoot him. Evans responded, ‘Someday, somewhere, I’ll appreciate you not having to shoot me.’
